It started with one full table
Feed People. Feed Their Hearts. Restore Hope. That's the whole idea, and it hasn't changed since 2005.
Since 2005
Since 2005 the Destiny Foundation has been hosting a Thanksgiving Day feast. Every year it gets bigger and bigger — some years we don't even have enough room to host all of the attendees.
The meal includes plenty of food and all of the trimmings. We also have an MC, a DJ, a clown, a magician, face painters and much more. There's a raffle, as well, so everyone that comes leaves with something.
That's the part people remember. Not that they were fed — that they were celebrated.
Where we're headed
More than one day a year
Thanksgiving is where we started, and we're working toward the next one. But hunger and loneliness don't keep a calendar. We're building toward celebrations across other holidays and whenever a community needs one — a shelter, a senior center, a school, a neighborhood block.
Led by where we're pointed
We don't guess who needs us. Neighbors, churches, schools and organizations tell us, and we go. If that's a community you know, nominate them.
